After I moved to Wilton Manors and was no longer a quick drive to my favorite sandwich place over there, Substantial Salads & Subs in Weston, I needed to find a new place to grab a sandwich by my new home. Today I took a walk down the block on Wilton Drive and have definitely found what I was looking for at Pink Sub.
*Note – this sandwich shop has moved to a new location since writing this review – they’re still very near their old location. The content below remains unchanged, but we have updated the address at the bottom of this page to their new location in Oakland Park.
Pink Sub Review
To start off, I love that this is located so close to me. That’s the great thing about living in Wilton Manors, just off of the main drag. There are so many different shops, restaurants, and bars to walk to. It’s such a foot-friendly municipality.
I had driven or walked by this place many times but had never stopped in. One day it was rainy and I didn’t want to venture too far like my normal workday lunches at Burger21 on Federal Hwy or at Flash Fire Pizza. I remembered Pink Sub, took a look at some review sites to see what they offered, and I was sold and on my way.
I had my heart set on a meatball sub, which is my go-to whenever I try out a new sandwich shop. The meatball sub is a specialty that is only available on Fridays, unfortunately. After scanning the menu, I decided on the First Mate sub.
It was amazing! This sub comes with sliced ham, double creme brie cheese, honey mustard, and granny smith apples, all topped with a balsamic vinegar. It was an incredible sandwich. The crunch of the apples was the perfect touch on it and really added a lot of flavor. It was dripping in honey mustard and balsamic and was good to the last bite. I opted for white bread which was fresh and hearty.
I got a combo meal which included a drink and chips for a total of $11.00. This has to be my new favorite sandwich place in the Fort Lauderdale area and I’ll definitely be back soon.
Aside from sandwiches they have sweet delicacies like chocolate covered Twinkies and chocolate covered Oreos. They looked amazing, as well as the other sweet treats they had on display by the cash register, but I resisted the urge. I don’t think I’ll be able to resist next time. (If you have a craving for dessert in Wilton Manors, you can also walk down the block and check out the Wilton Creamery as well!).
All in all, this is absolutely a sandwich shop you must visit if you’re in the Wilton Manors area and have a craving. The staff was more than friendly and conversational, I felt like a welcome customer can’t wait to go back. I love having it so close to my home, and I think I will be a regular there soon enough. You can probably count on me being there on Friday to try out their meatball sub, for sure!
