I work on the internet all day so if there’s one thing I need to do my job, other than a network connection, it’s a functioning computer. I’m absolutely stuck without it. So when my laptop started to break apart at the hinge, becoming impossible to open/close and exposing some of the internal wiring and the screen more or less breaking off, I had to get it fixed before it no longer became functional.
I’ve never been one to drop my iPhone or tablet or anything like that, so I didn’t have any experience with a local repair shop and didn’t know where to go to get it fixed, so I hit up Google for “laptop repair Wilton Manors” (my neighborhood of Fort Lauderdale) and found Tech Pro Repair was just around the block from where I live. The customer reviews were great so I brought my Samsung laptop there for a diagnosis and a quote.
I dropped off my laptop and the owner, Paul, took the casing apart to see what pieces were busted and needed replacing and got on the phone to his suppliers to get me the parts I needed. I killed some time by grabbing some lunch at Flash Fire Pizza down the street, got a call from Paul and went to pick it up and see what he found. I was told that I needed the entire outer casing of my laptop replaced, that it’s a common problem after a long enough period of time with this particular model laptop, and that he could have the parts from his supplier in a few days and it would take about a half hour to do the job. The total charge was the cost of the hardware plus $50 for labor. It seemed reasonable enough to me, and a whole lot cheaper than buying an entire new laptop when this one was still operating just fine.
A few days later I received a call that the part had come in and I dropped off my laptop again. I went and got a beer at Funky Buddha Brewery and an hour later I got another call that it was ready for pick-up and it opens and closes like it’s brand new, maybe even sturdier than it was when I first bought it.
I hope to never have any issues like this in the future, I’m quite careful with my electronics and this just happened because of repeated use over time, but if I should ever drop my phone or anything like that in the future I will know just where to go to get it fixed. I highly recommend Tech Pro Repair on Oakland Park Blvd for any type of job like this. The service was quick, friendly, and efficient and the price was right. I’ll definitely use their services again in the future should something like this be needed.
