Suzie’s Place Pet Grooming

If you’ve read the reviews I’ve written about here on FloridaReviewGuide.com, there are a couple things that are pop up in a lot of the things I write about: one, that my girlfriend and I live in Wilton Manors, and two, that we have a dog. Those things make up a lot of my identity and combine for the newest review today.

Our dog, who if you recall we got from a Golden Retriever Rescue in South Florida, was in dire need of a good grooming. We bathed her and combed her pretty often, but her big coat just got so thick and knotted that our efforts were futile.

When we were at the dog park in Oakland Park one day and chatting with another owner, she mentioned that she had gone to Suzie’s Place for grooming and was well taken care of, so we made an appointment right away.

Suzie’s Place Pet Grooming Wilton Manors Review

Since our dog’s breed is known for their beautiful coats, we were hoping that she could be salvaged from being buzzed down and that the knots could just be cut out. Unfortunately, the knots were just too thick and there was no way around it. It is a big reason for the funky smell she had at the time; no matter how well we bathed her, the shampoo just couldn’t penetrate enough to get her really clean in those areas.

We dropped our dog off at Suzie’s early in the afternoon and got to see all the other cute dogs that were being attended to at the time. Our dog, Summer, is such a sweetheart that she walked right in and started shaking hands with the staff and made herself at home. The staff was very nice and we were greeted well and chatted for a little bit about what we wanted. We showed them her knots and were told that there was no way around having to buzz her down, and we were cool with that. Whatever’s best for her.

A few hours later she was ready to be picked up and she looked so different – we’d only had her for a few months and she always had her full coat, so she looked like a completely different dog – but still cute! Looked like a puppy actually. We got advice from the staff on how to best groom her going forward, and that with regular “neat and tidy” appointments we wouldn’t need to shave her again. We now know her trouble spots to pay attention to with brushing, under her ears and in her crotch (she likes to dip all the way to the ground when she eliminates).

All in all, our dog was very well taken care of, the staff was wonderful, professional and helpful, and we will definitely be going back there for future appointments to keep her looking and smelling great. You can find Suzie’s Place in Wilton Manors at the corner of 26th St and 16th Ave – right next to the bowling alley, if you’re familiar with the area. Take your furry friend there and you won’t be disappointed!
