After getting our dog buzzed down when taking her to Suzie’s Place Pet Grooming, we made a commitment for more regular baths to keep her clean and shiny. Without that big coat of hers, at the moment, she sure is a lot easier to clean and dry.
Most of the time we just hose her down on the deck behind our house (she sits so still for us), lather her up with shampoo, and then dry her off as best we can. After hearing my brother talk about the self-serve dog wash they used in Weston, we decided to look for a place near us to do the same and see how it worked versus just doing it at home.
My girlfriend found Ruff House online and saw that there is a special rate on Wednesdays, and off we were.
Ruff House Self-Serve Dog Wash Review
It was really easy to find this place, it was right up Federal Highway from where we live, pretty close to Commercial Blvd. It’s located at the end of a small strip of retail with ample parking (at least on the evening we were there).
It’s a beautiful store full of different kinds of pet foods and supplies, but we were there for the bath stalls. We were greeted very nicely by the staff who were very helpful with everything we needed. They showed us to our stall and explained all the different kinds of shampoo (I think there were 6) and what the benefits of each were, as well as the conditioner and the blow dryer for afterward.
Our dog is very mellow and sat so nicely in the tub for us the whole time. If your dog is a little restless, they do have some little ropes you can use to secure your dog in place. We loved using the different shampoos and especially the conditioner that they had, she has never smelled so good in all the time we’ve had her (just a few months at this point, we adopted in July of this year from a South Florida Golden Retriever rescue organization).
It was $12 to use their dog wash on Wednesday, which is a discount from the usual price of $18. An alternative is joining their loyalty club, where if you buy 4 of them at the regular $18 price, you get 2 for free, so basically you get the 6 of them at the $12 price in the long-run and you can go any day of the week, not just Wednesdays. We’ll probably be joining that deal pretty soon.
All in all, our dog got a great bath, she looks and smells great (even now a couple weeks later). The store is very nice and the staff was very welcoming and helpful. It’s definitely a service that we will be returning to in the future to keep our girl looking her best!
