We had long used Honey Pets as our primary groomer and pet sitter for our two dogs, Snoop and Cookie, but those days have come to an end. I won’t go into too much detail as you can find the full story in our review of Honey Pets here. They were in the news recently (as of the time of this writing) for allegations of animal cruelty, leaving dogs caged in the parking lot behind the store in the hot sun with no mat or blanket under their paws on the hot pavement.
We ourselves have had our own personal experiences with them — always showing up late whether it be for grooming (not a huge deal as I work from home so I’m flexible) or picking the dogs up for pet sitting (bigger deal – in jeopardy of missing flights). Add to that we’d see some nicks and cuts on the dogs after grooming, plus the recent cruelty allegations, it was time to look elsewhere.
Fancy Pets Grooming Review
So I took to the Weston and Beyond Facebook group and sought recommendations and was pointed in the direction of Fancy Pets Mobile Pet Grooming, based in our hometown of Weston.
I liked them as soon as I called them – the call was answered immediately, and with politeness and courtesy and they scheduled a visit to our house within the next week. We couldn’t wait much longer as the dogs were in pretty dire need of a good bath and cut.
As opposed to Honey Pets who always showed up hours late, Fancy Pets was there a half hour early! But as I said I work from home so it was not an unpleasant surprise. As I opened the door I met two of their smiling employees who carefully handled our two pups and took them to their mobile grooming van parked at our curb (pictured above).
While it seemed like they took a little bit longer than our previous provider (it was at least 90 minutes), I can’t argue with the results. When the doorbell rang again I was greeted by two smiling pups, looking fresh and clean and with smiles on their faces. I admit I needed to tempt them with a treat to get them to pose this nicely, but you can see the final result pictured below. That’s Snoop on the left, a Morkie (Maltese / Yorkie) and Cookie on the right, a Maltie-Poo (Maltese / Poodle). Aren’t they cute?
All in all, I couldn’t be happier with the service when it comes down to the quality of work, the timeliness, and the friendliness of the staff. The dogs look great and there are no nicks or cuts like before! While they look great in their new bandanas (and Cookie with her bows), they shed them within an hour in a wrestling match. Oh well, dogs will be dogs.
