Food in Motion

If it’s the second Friday of the month, around our house we already know what our plans are for the night after we’re done with work. Food in Motion at Peter Feldman Park! It’s become permanently written in ink on our calendars ever since we discovered it earlier this year. Read on for my full review below.

Peter Feldman Park – Food in Motion Review

I can’t remember how we first found out about this, I think it was through some of our friends at our Tuesday night Run for Brews, but we’re sure happy it got on our radar. This event takes place the 2nd Friday of every month at Peter Feldman Park, a 1.3 acre park adjacent to downtown Fort Lauderdale (for reference, almost exactly a mile north of places like Yolo or Bull Market on Himmarshee).

The thing that sold us on it at first – free beer! While supplies last, there’s free beer provided for everyone. Sometimes the beer tent gets set up promptly at 5pm when the event starts, sometimes it takes them a little while to set up, but you can’t argue with free beer. Be sure to get there early before the line gets too long and get your fill as many times as you can! In addition to the free beer, there’s also alcohol sales at other tents. Also, there’s a convenience store located a half block away where if we don’t want to wait in line, we go grab a six pack of our favorite Funky Buddha beer.

This place is also food trucks galore. All the favorite food trucks from this area show up every month and you have your pick of so many different styles. I’m trying to think back on the last few times I’ve visited. I know I’ve had some great BBQ, a tasty Cuban sandwich, and a burger or two along the way. All were great!

There are also tons of local artisans and vendors with their wares to sell. I sneakily bought my girlfriend a cool necklace that I could tell she had her eyes on a few months ago. My favorite purchase, however, were some ceramic coasters with pop culture images printed on them. Picked up one of The Beatles, Prince, David Bowie, and Chunk fromĀ The Goonies.

I recommend bringing a blanket and staking out an area on the grass to enjoy your food and beer. It’s even better with good company, a lot of our friends have become regulars as well. Our dog, that we adopted from Golden Rescue of South Florida, absolutely loves it there and meets everyone within leash distance of our blanket.

They also have a DJ playing music through the night with a good variety of hits. All in all, it’s a well-organized event. Food in Motion is a great way to end the week and just relax at the park. I’m already looking forward to next month!
