While we try to make site all about places that are Florida-specific, we’re including Burger 21 as it was started in Tampa and while they’ve expanded outside of the Sunshine State, the majority of their locations are located within the state.
I’ve driven by this place many times and I make no secret that I love burgers. I’ve seen the signage along Federal Highway and had been meaning to stop by. I was very close to going the other day, but had a craving for pizza and went next door to Flash Fire Pizza instead. (Another solid choice, I might add).
I was in the mood for a burger for lunch today and since I live only a few miles from Burger 21 in Fort Lauderdale, it was time to check it out. After just my first visit, I know it won’t be my last.
Burger 21 Review
For one thing, I’m a sucker for a loyalty / rewards program, so I liked seeing a tablet at the cash register where you can record your visits with an app and earn rewards. Already after my first visit I got a free order of fries just for signing up.
I’m a lover of bacon cheeseburgers, so I got a black & bleu burger with blue cheese and bacon, medium rare as always. I also got a side of fries and a drink, and in total it cost me around $12 if I remember right.
I took my number and while waiting for my order I filled up my drink and browsed the condiments section. Big selling point here – tons of different ketchups and mustards, lots to choose from.
My burger arrived and it was cooked just the way I like it. Nice and juicy, fresh ingredients. The fries were amazing and will definitely be a staple every time I visit here (in addition to regular fries, they have sweet potato fries, chili cheese fries, cheese and ale fries, onion strings, etc).
I noticed that they also have shakes, and seeing a few other customers with them they look great I’ll have to try one sometime (or I can always head back home where I have Wilton Creamery nearby).
All in all, the meal was great, and I’ll definitely be spending more lunches and quick dinners here. I’m always on the search for a good, quick burger that doesn’t cost me too much, and I certainly found it here. It’s a pretty convenient stop if you’re in the area (right by Coral Ridge Mall). The seating area is spacious and comfortable, and they also have a TV where they were playing sports while I dined. As it was during the NCAA tournament, I didn’t miss any of the action while I was away from home.
I can be a creature of habit and go to the same places for lunch, so I’m always looking to expand my rotation and Burger 21 has definitely been welcomed to the club. Can’t wait to go back and keep eating their delicious burgers and building up rewards with each visit.
